The center for Social Research (CSR) of Peking University is a teaching and scientific research entity founded and headed by Professor Xie Yu, a chair professor of Peking University, a professor of Princeton University and an academician of the two American academies. It is affiliated with Guanghua School of management. Adhering to a rigorous and realistic academic attitude, the social research center is committed to promoting an objective understanding of contemporary Chinese society, cultivating high-level quantitative social science scholars and building a world influential quantitative social science research platform.
The social research center plans to recruit and select teaching staff and postdoctors engaged in quantitative social science related research from universities and research institutions around the world in 2020, so as to form a high-level interdisciplinary academic team. Recruit a full-time postdoctoral researcher to participate in the research topic of "fertility will, parenting concept and social mobility". Professor Xie Yu is in charge of this topic, which aims to systematically collect the data of "marriage concept and behavior, reproductive intention and behavior, parenting attitude and behavior of contemporary Chinese young people" to explore the current situation, trend, causes, mechanism and socio-economic consequences of low fertility. In terms of the formation of marriage and its influence on the family, it focuses on three aspects: the formation of marriage and its influence on the family; The current situation and changing trend of fertility intention and its impact on fertility behavior; The parenting attitude and behavior of parents to their children and their differences in different groups.
