The China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) project aims to document social, economic, population, education, and health changes in China by collecting longitudinal data on individuals, families, and communities. The data collected by the CFPS provides a foundation for academic research and public policy analysis. Officially launched in 2010, the CFPS has a national representative sample of over 5000 households from 25 provinces in China. Information from these forms the basis for a nationwide and interdisciplinary longitudinal study, tracking both the economic and non-economic welfare of Chinese residents.
